The Blue Anchor
Thoas Watts issued this trade token, worth a half penny, for his business at the sign of the Blue Anchor, in St John Street.
Boyne & Williamson (1889) reference London number 2587; Obv inscription: THO.WATTS.AT.THE.BLEW (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = An anchor (in field); Rev inscription: ANCHOR.IN.ST.IOHN.STREET (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = HIS / HALF / PENY (in three lines of Roman capitals, in field).

St John Street ran from the parish of Clerkenwell, Middlesex to the ward of Farringdon Without, in the City of London, the southern end in the City of London, was demolished in the 19th century, see Henry A.
