Toy rowing boat
Mechanical lithographed tinplate toy coxed pair rowing boat. Comprising a lithographed red and yellow striped boat, two rowers in blue and green stripes, a cox in a blue uniform with yellow facings, and a white cape with red peak. The centre of the boat is pivoted on a 'sea' base with four gold wheels and a pitching or wave action operated from an eccentric rear axle. Such wheels were used by Meier on penny toys after 1905. Purchased for one penny (1d) from a London street trader.
