The Magpie
This trade token, worth a farthing, was issued at the sign of the Magpie, in Minories, Portsoken Ward, City of London.
Boyne & Williamson (1889) reference London number 1938; Obv inscription: AT.THE.PIY.IN.THE (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = A magpie (in field); Rev inscription: MINNERIS.1659 (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = I.A.S. two muskets crossed (triad of initials in Roman capitals, in field).
