The Spinning Wheel
Joseph Webb, a flaxman (seller of fabrics made with flax), issued this trade token, worth a penny, for his business in Leadenhall Street.
Boyne & Williamson (1889) reference London number 1700; Obv inscription: IOSEPH.WEBB.FLEXMAN (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = A spinning wheel [Boyne has 'a woman spinning flax', this example worn so woman may be missing] 1D (in field) ; Rev inscription: IN. LEADEN. HALL. STREET. 1668 (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = A spinning wheel, 1D (in field).
