Printed Ephemera — 1939-1945
A.R.P. Wallpaper for Blackout
Wallpaper catalogue with swatches of four Blackout wallpapers produced by Arthur Sanderson & Sons. The papers are double-sided, printed with a conventional wallpaper design one side and, on the reverse, printed with a solid black for obscuring light. The four sample designs described as 'cream', 'wood grain', small floral' and 'large floral' are stapled together with a covering sheet headed 'A.R.P Wallpaper for Black-Out' that gives details of pricing and the manufacturer. The wallpapers complied with the strict Blackout regulations enforced during World War II. They were intended to make the regulations more acceptable to an often resentful public.
