The Sword and Ball
This trade token, worth a farthing, was issued for a business at the sign of the Sword and Ball, at Holborn Bridge, Middlesex.
Boyne & Williamson (1889) reference London number 1409. Obv inscription: AT.THE.SWORD.AND.BALL (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = A sword thrust through a ball (in field); Rev inscription: AT.HOVLBVRN.BRIDGE (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = H.I.G. (triad of initials in Roman capitals, in field).
