Emmeline Pankhurst leaves for America
Christabel (centre) and Sylvia Pankhurst (right) with their mother, Emmeline, at Waterloo station 4 October 1911. Emmeline was setting off for a lecture tour of the United States and Canada. By 1911 women in Wyoming, Colorado, Utah, Idaho, Washington and California had been given the right to vote.
