The Suffragette Lady Sybil Smith Arrives at Court
The Suffragette Lady Sybil Smith arriving for her court hearing at Bow Street Magistrates Court. She carries a suitcase expecting to be sentenced to a term of imprisonment having been arrested during a Suffragette demonstration. The photograph probably refers to the confrontation between crowds, Suffragettes and police that took place in Parliament Square on 30th June 1908 as Suffragettes attending the ' Women's Parliament' organised by the Women's Social and Political Union left Caxton Hall.
