Suffragettes in the witness box at Bow Street Magistrates Court, 1908
Suffragettes in the witness box at Bow Street Magistrates Court, 1908. The reverse of the photograph identifies the Suffragettes as Rosamund Massy and Elsie Howey. It is probable this photograph refers to the arrest and trail of the women for their part in the demonstration that took place in Parliament Square as Suffragettes left the Women's Parliament at Caxton Hall on 30th June 1908. This confrontation with the police and crowds resulted in the trial and imprisonment of 25 Suffragettes.
