Our Lady of Eton; Our Lady of Walsingham?
Pilgrim badge depicting the Assumption of the Virgin Mary to Heaven. Mary is shown standing on a crescent moon, holding the infant Christ and is surrounded by an irregular aureole (field of glory). It is possible that this badge was made at the shrine of Our Lady of Walsingham for the feast of the Assumption on 15 August, one of the major festivals of the Virgin Mary. So many examples of this badge have been found at King’s Lynn in Norfolk, and London, that it seems likely it could have been made at Walsingham.
