The Swan
Thomas Insley issued this trade token, worth a farthing, for his business at the Swan tavern, in Bishopsgate.
Boyne & Williamson (1889) reference London number 342A; Obv inscription: THO. INSLEY. AT. THE (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = A swan (in field); Rev inscription: IN.BLACK.FRIARS (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = T.S.I. (triad of initials in Roman capitals, in field).
