The Crescent Moon
Thomas Leare issued this trade token, worth a farthing, at the sign of the Half Moon in Bedlam (Old Bethlem neighbourhood, now Liverpool Street).
Boyne & Williamson (1889) reference London number 189; Obv inscription: THOMAS.LEARE.IN (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = A crescent moon (in field); Rev inscription: BEDDLAM.1662 (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = T.L (in field, in Roman capitals).
