The Leg and Star
Richard Finch, issued this trade token, worth a half penny, for his tavern, the Leg and Star tavern, in Aldersgate without, Aldersgate Ward, City of London.
Boyne & Williamson (1889) reference London number 32; Obv inscription: RICHARD. FINCH. AT. YE. LEG. AND (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = A leg surmounted by a star (in field); Rev inscription: STAR.WITHOUT. ALDERSGATE (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = HIS / HALFE / PENNY (in three lines of Roman capitals, in field).
