Glass, vessel, bottle, prismatic hexagonal bottle
A natural blue glass bottle. Good quality glass, with occasional large bubbles and impurities; small elongated bubbles in neck. Unweathered. Parts present: near-complete (rim, approx 50%, neck, handle (2 sherds, glued), body). Technical features: mould-blown. Rim narrow, flat, in-folded. Handle very broad, with slightly bifurcated claw attachment and wide central trail. Base design: dot in each angle, lightly moulded circle around central dot. Centre of base slightly kicked, with pontil scar.
From B525, inhumation burial of a woman in a wooden coffin, with Frontinus bottle MSL87<420>. Inhumations generally can be dated to AD 200 or later, and so both bottles may have been old when buried.
