Printed Ephemera — 1851
Spooner's perspective view of the great exhibition
This peepshow or optical toy gives a three dimensional perspective of the interior of the Crystal Palace when opened out and viewed through the central opening. The front of the peepshow has a coloured lithograph of the spectacular Osler fountain, one of the star attractions at the Great Exhibition of 1851. The fountain became a meeting place or rendez-vous for those visiting the exhibition.
