Scalebeam, painted beamscale - PLA no 1435
This small table top beam scale was used for weighing packs of dried tobacco leaves imported through the London docks. It may have been made as early as the 1880s by the London company of Vandome, Titford & Pawson, which preceded Vandome & Hart whose name is painted on the beam.
