Bowl
Part of a decorated samian ware bowl, form Dragendorff 37 with block decoration and gadroons below. These bowls were produced in moulds, and in this case, Memor, the potter who made the mould has signed it by hand, resulting in his signature appearing upside down in relief below the decoration on every bowl made from that mould. Samian ware is high-quality Roman tableware made in Gaul (modern-day France) and exported throughout the empire.
