Mandrel, cast iron mandrel
A cast iron bar mandrel from the workshop of Davey & Co, ship chandlers, in the West India Dock Road, Tower Hamlets. Attached to a workbench by a strong bracket, a bar mandrel was used like an anvil, with a hammer, to bend iron objects.
