Prehistoric — Late Bronze Age
Bowl
Carinated bowl with an internally bevelled rim and traces of burnish. About a quarter of the rim is broken off. Gritty fabric, black on inside, red on outside. An old label on the pot notes that it was found 'in the gravel pit on Combe Warren, about 3 feet (1m) below the surface, May 1839'. The finder thought the pot was Roman, but it has now been identified as a Late Bronze Age type.
