Amphora, Dressel 20 amphora
Upper part of a globular amphora (form Dressel 20) in pink fabric, with an angular rim.
The amphora was used to export olive oil from Baetica, a Roman province in what is now southern Spain. It was made in one of the many potters' workshops in the Guadalquivir vally, the centre of the olive oil trade.
This example was found at the Guildhall, Gresham Street, London EC2.
