A plain samian ware dish, form Dragendorff 27 made at La Graufesenque, South Gaul, finished with a red glossy slip. The base is stamped GERMANI, (MAN elided), for the potter Germanus of La Graufesenque.
Samian ware is high-quality Roman tableware made in Gaul (modern-day France) and exported throughout the empire.
