Coin, denarius
A silver denarius coin of the Roman Republic. The coin depicts an elephant and pontifical implements. This coin was minted under the authority of Julius Caesar, in Rome, Italy, 54-51 BC.
Obv: An elephant, advancing right, trampling a dragon. Obv inscription: CAESAR in exergue. Rev: Sacrifcial and priestly objects. Part of a hoard from the site of Temple House, Queen Victoria Street, City of London, 1958.
