Coin copy, radiate
A copper alloy contemporary copy of a Roman radiate coin (barbarous radiate) possibly of Emperor Claudius II, ruler of the Roman Empire, AD 268-270. The back of the coin depicts an altar. This coin was made c. AD 275-285.
Obv: Radiate head, facing right. Obv inscription: Illegible. Rev: An square altar. Rev inscription: (CONSECRATIO type). Part of a hoard from Newgate Street, City of London.
