Coin, nummus AE2
A copper alloy nummus of Emperor Constantine I, ruler of the Roman Empire, AD 306-337. The back of the coin depicts Mars, the Roman god of war. This coin was minted in Treveri (modern day Trier, Germany), AD 307.
Obv: Draped and laureate bust of Constantine I, facing right. Obv inscription: FL VAL CONSTANTINVS N C. Rev: Mars, advancing right, holding a transverse, reversed spear in his right hand and a shield in the left. Rev inscription: MARTI PATRI PROPVG, SA in field, PTR in exergue.
