Coin, denarius
A silver denarius coin of Emperor Hadrian, ruler of the Roman Empire, AD 117-138. The back of the coin depicts Minerva, the Roman goddess of war, poetry, medicine, magic and crafts. This coin was minted in Rome, Italy, AD 119-125.
Obv: Laureate bust of Hadrian, facing right, left shoulder draped. Obv inscription: IMP CAESAR TRAIAN HADRIANVS AVG. Rev: Minerva, advancing right, holding a javelin in her raised right hand and a round shield in the left. Rev inscription: PM TR P COS III.
