Printed Ephemera — 1984
Stop The City Carnival
This sticker was distributed in the City of London as part of a protest organised by Greenpeace.
The Stop the City campaign was billed as a 'Carnival Against War, Oppression and Destruction'. It consisted of four separate day-long street blockades of London's financial district. One blockade involved 3,000 people and succeeded in causing a significant shortfall in City trading.
Greenpeace was founded in 1971 by a small group of environmental activists. It has since grown into an international organisation dealing with global environmental campaigns.
