Commemorative money box
Tinplate money box shaped in the form of a post office letter box commemorating the Coronation of King Edward VII. Spray painted red the post box is surmounted by a crown and bears the inscription 'The Coronation of King Edward VII June 26 1902'. This souvenir was purchased by Ernest King for one penny (1d) from a street trader operating in the Ludgate Hill area of London. Interestingly King purchased the souvenir on 21st December 1904, two years after the Coronation suggesting this was 'old stock' brought out for sale in the lucrative Christmas markets.
