Suit, lounge suit
This three-piece blue wool lounge suit was bought from Harrods in 1951 by Colin Sorensen. Colin, then 21, had modern views and wanted something respectable but not too traditional. He worked in the Friends Ambulance Unit until 1954 and then went to the Royal College of Art. The suit comprises a single breasted jacket, waistcoat and trousers with fastenings for braces. The outfit contrasts with the demob suits issued to ex-servicemen as part of a set of civilian clothing. The standard-issue blue or brown suits were often not of a high quality or good fit.
