Social History — 18th century-19th century
Cannon
Iron cannon, weight 290kg. Gun has a 3" bore.
The cannon shows distinct Scandinavian features. These are the pointed cascable and characteristics of the rings. The gun is probably Swedish, early-mid eighteenth century. This is the sort of smaller calibre gun found on pirate ships or on merchant ships to defend them, but not likely to a Navy gun. Most Navies would have some sort of badge by this period and this one is slightly too short.
