Hollow cast handle, the upper part ending in a decorative curved bracket which was attached to the rim of the vessel (missing). This terminal is decorated with the head of a leopard, the face well modelled, flanked by two smaller leopards, both lying down. The heads of the beasts are modelled in the round, with incised dots (spots) enclosed in panels on the forequarters and raised haunches, front and back; one forepaw on each of the small leopards forms the bracket attached to the rim.
An escutcheon at the bottom of the handle is in the shape of a stylised satyr, with horns, incised round eyes and a beard, shown as a palmette, the Bacchic symbolism suggesting the handle came from a wine jug.
