Working History — 1820-1870
Drill bit, spoon drill bit
This spoon drill bit forms part of a group of tools contained in a fine early 19th century toolchest. Many of the tools are marked 'W Gray'. The drill bit is unmarked and was perhaps not one of the original compliment of tools in the chest. A spoon drill bit, attached to a brace, was used to bore or 'spoon out' holes for dowels.
