Gouge, in-cannel gouge
This gouge forms part of a group of tools contained in a fine early 19th century tool chest. The maker's mark on the blade is obscured though the words 'cast steel' can be made out. Known as an 'out-cannel' blade it would have gouged out curved shapes in the wood.
