Washing machine
Automatic washing machines incorporating a spin dryer, were introduced in the 1960s. They were the first machines that could be automatically programmed to provide a full wash, rinse and spin. This Automatic Delux washing machine was made by Hoover in Ealing. It was bought from William Whiteley's, Bayswater, for £95 in 1970. The machine was used in a home in Tower Hamlets until 1983, when it was donated to the Museum.
