Bomb, incendiary bomb
This kilo magnesium incendiary bomb fell on the City of London during the Blitz of 1940-1941. It failed to ignite on impact and was found in the basement of the Lloyd's insurance building in November 1979. The bomb is now missing its tail fin and fuse, with only the alloy cylinder remaining. At the height of the Blitz up to 100,000 incendiary bombs such as this example could fall on London in a single night.
