Blunderbuss
Flintlock blunderbusses of this type were typically manufactured for military or corporate clients like the East India and Hudson Bay Companies. They were often carried by sailors guarding enslaved Africans aboard ship or by troops defending colonial forts. The maker, Richard Wilson, was a contractor to the Board of Ordnance which supplied guns to the British armed forces. He also manufactured guns for the East India, Hudson Bay and Royal African Companies. His workshop was located in the Minories near the Tower of London.
