Social History — 1973-1975
Mannequin
This mannequin head was used as a display for hats, jewellery and accessories in the vast 'Big Biba' department store which opened in 1973 on Kensington High Street. The store’s theatrical interior design mixed Art Deco glamour with kitsch theatricality. This mannequin echoes the Biba ‘look’, with its retro 1930s feel and its brown and maroon colour palette.
