Lombardi & Co., late Caldesi & Co.
Invoice from Lombardi and Company, graphic designers, showing billhead with address. Based in Pall Mall, Lombardi & Co. was a firm of artists, miniature painters and publishers. Ever since the Renaissance, the British had invited Italian scholars, musicians, craftsmen and artists like Canaletto to come and work in London. his tradition was strengthened during the 18th century, when Palladian villas became popular homes for the wealthy. Italians earned a reputation for artistic flair which allowed firms like this one to flourish.
