Billhead, invoice
Copper-engraved billhead with handwritten invoice issued by Bowness & Son, fishing rod and tackle makers located at 14 Bell Yard, Temple Bar. The billhead includes an engraving of the tradesman's sign of a large fish (possibly a salmon) surmounted by a bell and notes that the firm makes and supplies artificial flies, dubbing hooks, fishing rods and every article required for angling. Dated 1838 the handwritten invoice refers to an order for fishing rods and flies supplied to Captain Hawley.
