Leather bandolier with 12 'apostles' (powder bottles) hanging from it, which would have been worn by a musketeer. Each bottle would have contained a charge of gunpowder used to prime the musketeer’s gun before firing. The bandolier would have been worn across the chest.
Thousands of firearms, musket rests, bandolier flasks, tools and other equipment were supplied to Parliament’s New Model Army by London craftsmen during the English Civil War (1642-1651). Jane Gower provided 50 troop saddles; John Snow made 200 tents and Henry Petty at the White Bear in Newgate Market made1000 shirts in three months.
