Post-Medieval — 16th century
Corpus figure of Christ
Figurine of Christ with head thrown back and to one side. The eyes are open; the face long and narrow. The arms (now missing) were originally secured by pegs to the shoulders. The loin cloth is held by a carved rope which leads to a flat section on the left hip with two holes drilled through. The feet do not overlap. The figure is carved in the round, with greater attention to detail at the front. Substantial damage to the chin and stomach with longtitudinal cracks. Possibly Portuguese and presumably originally mounted on a cross.
