Medallion paving tile; Bear floor tile
Polychrome 'medallion' tin-glazed earthenware floor tile decorated in blue, ochre and green on a buff coloured tin-glaze with a bear looking up at the stars, encircled by blue and ochre circles. Medallion tiles with figurative and animal subjects were popular in the Low Countries and London. These tiles were made in the Pickleherring factory in Southwark.
