Post-Medieval — 1600-1650
Dish, dripping dish
Post-Medieval fine redware dripping pan. Long bowl with splashes of glaze and small foot on the base. There is a large perforation in the rim at one end, probably for hanging the dish up when not in use. There is a pouring groove in the other side of the thick, flat rim. It has a straight strap handle in the centre at the back. As the bowl has a curved base, there is a small foot on the underside, just underneath the handle, to stop the dish from wobbling. This dish would have been used to catch the fat and juices from roasting meat.
