Demolition of Richmond House
The Privy Garden, at its Banqueting House end, has taken the appearance of a stone yard, perhaps due to the demolition of Old Richmond House (c.1738).
The New Richmond House next to it burnt down in 1791 but depiction of Holbein Gate indicates date pre 1759. Proportion of Horse Guards turret suggests Old Horse Guards, therefore a date pre 1749. Also depicted are: Gwydyr & Montagu Houses.
Note: Watermark indicates late 17th c. paper.
