Paintings, Prints & Drawings — 1760
'A pudding, a pudding, a hot pudding.'
This pudding seller describes the barrow he pushes as 'the Grand machine from Italy, bake as I go'. Most likely, the machine kept the puddings warm, rather than actually baked them. He supports the barrow by straps over his shoulders which leave his hands free to serve customers. In this case, he is sprinkling sugar onto a pudding.
