The verse below this image reads: 'Do you want any spoons, any hard-mettle spoons. Have you any old brass or pewter to sell or change?'.
This couple recycled scrap metal. The woman, who is relatively well-dressed, sells new spoons from a large basket. Her partner is a metalworker. He carries a pair of bellows on his back, wears a leather apron and literally drums-up business by banging on an old pan with his hammer.
The dome of St Paul's can be seen in the background.
