Volunteering
Help bring London’s history to life by volunteering with us – whether that’s working with the public or going behind the scenes.
What do volunteers do?
We really value the diverse skills, knowledge and experience that our volunteers bring. Our volunteers get involved in lots of areas of museum life by:
- providing a warm welcome to schools as they arrive
- helping catalogue our objects, so they're more accessible to a wider audience
- sharing knowledge and lived experience to help bring our collections to life
- supporting family activities
- helping our conservation team to care for our objects
- assisting at events and supporting museum hosts in the galleries
- researching our archives
How do I become a volunteer?
We welcome anyone who wants to get involved. You don’t need to have any experience of working or volunteering in a museum and you don’t need any qualifications – just an enthusiasm for working with people and collections.
