The Swan
William Smith issued this trade token, worth a farthing, for his business at the Swan tavern, in East Smithfield, Middlesex.
Boyne & Williamson (1889) reference London number 947; Obv inscription: WILLIAM.SMITH.IN (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = A swan with a chain (in field); Rev inscription: EAST.SMITHFIELD (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = W.E.S. (triad of initials in Roman caiptals, in field).
